Underlying everything HHP does is a commitment to responsible forestry and best management practices in its woodlots as well as in its manufacturing. Our business is dependent on a sustainable supply of wood and it is imperative that our forests remain healthy and productive. Eighty percent of the wood HHP uses is purchased as stumpage directly from landowners and harvested under the oversight of HHP’s state-licensed foresters.
HHP also has its own fully mechanized logging crew. This state-of-the-art system enables us to log year round with less impact on the surrounding forest. This is because, rather than clear cutting, we are able to selectively thin a stand, then utilize the branches cut from the selected trees as a trail bed, thereby limiting the impact the machinery has on the forest floor.
Forester Don Winsor brings over thirty years of experience in working with landowners, loggers, and state agencies, assuring that our timber harvesting is performed in a sustainable and safe manner.
In addition to their work at HHP, the team works cooperatively with NH Fish and Game on wildlife habitat enhancement projects. They are also active in Project Learning Tree (an educational natural resource outreach program for schoolchildren), as well as the New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association and the New Hampshire Tree Farm Committee.
TRAINED LOGGER REQUIREMENTS: HHP, Inc. values the role our independent loggers play in our procurement of forest products. We utilize their services on HHP woodlands as well as private landowners property.
